August 2011

The biggest event this month was the starting of school. This was the first year that we had all three kids in school. To top it off we have one in elementary, one in middle and one in high school. That made for fun back to school shopping.

B was sooo excited to start school. She hates when there are days off or weekends. I love her school. It is a private Christian academy with only 11 kids in her class. She is learning a lot and loving every minute. Just because she is a kindie now, doesn't mean that she won't stop doing her Home Depot workshop with daddy every month!

M is an official middle schooler. He is excited because he gets to walk to school with friends now. That is so the opposite of his big sister. He loves his classes and finally being with all of his friends from different schools.

E has had a rough start for school this year. One of her friends died two days before school started. It shook her world. She went through all the stages of grief and is finally starting to heal a little. Top that off with the fact that she is doing tech for a play that she HATES and it hasn't been an easy start. There is a lot to that story, but suffice it to say that politics in theater isn't fun. She does love being in the select w omen's choir at school though. That affords her special experiences, like serving breakfast at Applebee's for a fund raiser.

T took B and M to a local amusement park. It is a small, older one that we got tickets at a silent auction for. M took a friend of his to go on the "big" rides with, while T spent the night playing with B. She is normally terrified of all things she can't control/predict, but for some reason LOVED this place! She went on all kinds of rides, from the roller coaster to Whip It, her favorite. T said is was so much fun doing all the rides with her that he didn't miss the big rides at all. I got to stay back and take E shopping and to dinner, for a rare girl's night. It was a fun evening for all of us.

The next day I was able to meet up with my oldest and dearest friends for lunch. We met at a restaurant that was featured on the Food Network. I couldn't eat anything, but the smells were off the charts. In fact K won a radio contest for the best thing she ate over the weekend. Her burger did smell divine! I love these woman, one being my lil' sis. They have seen me through thick and thin, literally! I just wish we lived closer so we could see each other more.

It wasn't quite as intense of a month, but it was fun just the same!
