Day Three...San Francisco

What a great day this was. We took the BART to downtown San Fran, then boarded a trolley car and headed off to Alcatraz. We took a ferry, to the island and listened to a great tour guide tell of the attempted escapes. We listened to the audio tour, and truthfully parts of it were a little bit grisly. Boo absolutely hated being inside the jail, but enjoyed the outside view of San Fran. I found the prison to be cold and eerie. I was glad to return to the main land to enjoy some fresh sourdough bread on Pier 39.
Pier 39 welcomed us with a guy in a cowboy hat singing, "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay". We had sourdough bread and watched the sea lions sun themselves. All the kids loved them, and we had to buy Boo a little stuffed sea lion. This provided the snugly she needed to drift off to sleep.
Finally we hopped a bus, then another cable car to China Town. The shopping was great. The food was excellent, and the people were wonderful. I felt a little funny bringing Boo there, but everyone figured out pretty quickly what the situation was. We were spoiled again by them giving presents to Boo, and the other kids. It was really beautiful too, since they still had everything decorated for Chinese New Year.
We went back to our hotel, exhausted and happy, having had a great day.

What gorgeous weather you had for San Fran. I can't wait to take Gracie there. Jerry would love to go to Alcatraz.
