Distiniguished Author Award

Alec Greven goes to LM's school and sponsored a writing contest. If you don't know who Alec is, he is on the best selling list for his book, 'How to Talk to Girls'. He has been on the Ellen show, Jay Leno and Conan. He is only ten years old! He wrote his book for a writing contest sponsored by our last librarian. She saw greatnes, self published it, and now he is a best selling author. If you want to read more about him, here is the link to the latest story in USA Today.

To give back he sponsored this contest. There were over 200 entries, and LM took the top honor. He wrote a story called '500 Tails'. It is a story about a boy and a dragon, not hard to picture with the interest of LM. He won a $25 giftcard to Target and our local bookstore, plus, his story will be published in a book, along with other winners of Excellence Awards, and sent to children in Africa. In other words, LM will be a published author! It has really sparked his interest in writing, but he has informed me that he still wants to be a rocket scientist, and will write as a hobby. I am so grateful to Nana for tutoring him and helping him work through his dyslexia to get to this point, and to his teacher at school for encouraging her students to write (she also entered and won the Excellence Award, which was right below the Distinguished Author Award). LM, you are one amazing little, or not so little man!
